• Retired from St. Johns County Florida Schools with nearly 30 years experience as an ESE, Reading, and Gifted Teacher

During his teaching career with St. Johns County Schools, Rick established after-school puppetry clubs with elementary students who created their own puppets and shows based on themes from history and science and literature. His students performed at multiple schools and events. Rick also established programs for at-risk middle school students who created marionette shows focusing on multicultural education. They performed at elementary schools and community gatherings.

Rick has performed and taught with his marionettes throughout Florida and Georgia at schools, libraries, festivals, community events and as street entertainers and re-enactors in St. Augustine’s Historic District. He has degrees in Journalism and Education, and is a member of Puppeteers of America.

“My focus is to educate students in Puppetry Arts, bringing them joy and confidence through the creation of puppets, shows and performances,” says Rick. “I want to provide this opportunity, especially to students who may not have the resources to access continuing education in the arts. I’ve witnessed firsthand how the power of puppetry can benefit children who may be nonverbal or face social/emotional challenges.”
